Born in Teheran, Iran, Babak Shokrian graduated from UCLA with a degree in Anthropology, with an emphasis in ethnographic film.  While at UCLA, Babak also studied acting and directing at Burbanks Victory theatre, under director Maria Gobetti.

Babak’s debut feature, AMERICA SO BEAUTIFUL (2001),babak explores conflicting cultures and ethnic identity and has showcased in numerous film festivals, including the IFP/Los Angeles Film Festival (2001) and the Berlin Film Festival (2002).

Living between Paris and Los Angeles, Babak continues to develop scripts while honing his directing skills with music videos for the Iranian/American market. Babak is currently working on the second installment of his anticipated trilogy.

Actress

Atossa Leoni’s work as an actress has encompassed productions in film, television and theatre in Europe and North America.Having been educated in Germany, Italy, France and the US, she is fluent in five languages.

Her first love is acting which she has done professionally since her childhood.Atossa was the lead in the acclaimed German television Atossaseries ‘TheOasis’ at the age of 12, and undertook numerous theatre performances throughout Europe with the acclaimed ‘Ueberzwerg’ theatre group amongst others.

In the US Atossa starred in the feature film ‘America So Beautiful’ directed by Babak Shokrian, playing ‘Maryam’. The film opened the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival (2002) and opened in the US in March 2003.

As well as ‘America So Beautiful’ Atossa has appeared in several independentAmerican films including ‘Everybody Loves Me : I Quit’, ‘Mea Culpa’,‘Crossing The Milkyway’ and ‘The Pornographer’.

She played a lead role in the NBC TV movie ‘The Princess and the Marine’ as  the Arabian princess Zayn and guest starred in the ABC series ‘EYES’ which premiered on US television in March 2005. To critical acclaim, she recently performed in ‘Beneath The Veil’ a presentation of an original play by Mary Apick for the Los Angeles Edge Of The World Festival.
