Forugh Farrokhzad
(1935-1967), Persian poetry's most influential and
controversial woman, broke through the imprisoning patriarchal ideals
of womanhood with her earthy, yet militant poetry. A poet of the senses,
she made public the revolutionary cries of an enraged artist.

About Dr. Maryam Habibian (Actress, Artistic Director, Translator,
Writer & Scholar)

Dr. Habibian, a native of Shiraz, Iran, received her Ph.D. in Educational
Theater at New York University. In 2001, she was awarded a NationalEndowment
for the Humanities fellowship to the Institute on "Cities and Public
Spaces in Comparative Cultural Contexts" where she researched "Forugh
Farrokhzad’s poetry and her relationship to the city of Tehran.”
Archival work at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and extensive
conversations with young people in Iran in Summer 2002 formed the basis of
her research. The same paper has recently been published in Community College
Humanities Association Vol. 25, Spring 2004 Dr. Habibian’s latest directorial
credits include "Theater of the Reflecting Pool" which was performed
at different venues in NYC, and New Jersey, "Forugh's Reflecting Pool"
in progress at the Bluestockings Women's Bookstore and Café, Bellevue
Community College in Seattle, and at Queensborough Community College. Dr.
Habibian has directed "The Invitation" and "Blessed Are The
Meek". These two plays, which were written by Dr. Gholamhoseyn Sa'edi,
were translated by Dr. Habibian and Lois Becker and performed at the Expanded
Arts Theater. "The Ugly Older Sister", which was directed by Dr.
Habibian, was performed at NYU's Black Box Theatre.

About Naser Saffarian, Writer, Director & Film Critic:
A young established documentary film director and critic, Naser Saffarian
was born in 1975 at Tehran, Iran. He studied English literature and since
1990 started writing commentaries about films for several Iranian magazines
and publications such as Film, Adineh, Film International & New Cinema.
He also produced numbers of documentary films among them three films are about
Forugh Farrokhzad. Sarde Sabz (The Green Cold) is about his interviews with
Forugh's family members and friends. For more information about Naser, please

About Fruzan Seifi:
Born and raised in Shiraz, Iran, Fruzan then moved to Bologna, Italy, where
she started the study of theater and then moved to Los Angeles to obtain her
Bachelor in Theater at California State University Northridge. Later, she
moved to New York for a very intense"Method" training at the Actor’s
Studio which led to a Master in Fine Arts in Theater in 2003. She is a dedicated
actor, director, and classically trained singer. She has performed at the
Actor’s Studio and several other theaters such as Theater for the New
City and the Fringe Festival in New York. In Los Angeles, she also directed
such productions as M. Butterfly and All in the Timing at CSUN. Currently
she is teaching at the Poly-Languages Institute and Berlitz Language School
in Los Angeles and working with Masoud Asadollahi in his recent play Visa
to Heaven. She is happy to finally have the opportunity to perform for the
Iranian community.
