Dear Friends of The Film Society:

As you know, for the past several years, we have always celebrated the International Women’s Day in memoriam of Forugh Farrokhzad, the great Iranian poet and multi-talented artist of our time. Accordingly, we planned to screen Forugh Farrokhzad: A Journey Along The Line of Time on Sunday, March 6, 2011.

Unfortunately, due to some technical issues which could not be resolved in time because of monetary constraints, we are unable to present the film in its entirety. We hope to reschedule the screening at a later date. However, we are substituting it with two other unique films: Iranian Women Behbanietemadind The Camera, a film by Mohammad Piram which deals with Iranian women filmmakers and their plights  and suppressions for being a woman in a patriarchal society. And The Story of Gordafarid: a film by Hadi Afarideh that portrays the first woman in Iranian history to tell the stories of Shahnameh.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we could celebrate The International Women’s Day in memoriam of Forugh Farrokhzad with the recital of a poem by Ms. Homa Partovi, the renowned artist as well as screening of an excerpt from her film regarding the plight of Iranian women.

Sincerely,

Hassan Fayyad
