It is 1890 in the outback deserts of Australia. The only form of transportation is via the camels brought down under by Afghan cameleers who service the remote desert communities, amongst them, the German Lutheran Missionaries who are there
to convert the Aboriginal Natives to Christianity.
In this harsh landscape of the desert, women are a highly priced commodity. This is the story of Jila (living waters, in Aboriginal language) a part Afghan, part Aboriginal girl, born amidst the conflicts the Australian outback at the turn of the 20th century.
